What to use in 777 loose or pellets in 50 cal. cva or pro hunter please help . would like to shoot out to 150 or 200 yds. please help

The powder charge has to be consistent. The value of using pellets is that you can use 2 for 100 gr charge or 3 for 150 grain charge quickly without having to measure the powder.
The value of using loose powder is that you can fine tune what powder charge you use for example I have one rifle that groups very well with 120 grains of 777 and a 285 gr Barnes hpt. That same rifle shoots a rather loose group if the powder charge is 150. Different rifles tend to like different powder charges and bullet combinations. Usually you start at 80 grains and test every ten grains from there up to see where you get the best accuracy. Loose powder costs less. |
