The 3-9 Monarch BDC is a much nicer scope IMO than the one you currently have and at a exellent price.

The 4200 has better glass and better construction IMO but the reticle in the Nikon gives you a advantage with realy good glass also and should be a good match with your caliber. You can not go wrong with either scope,it comes down to the features you want. The 4200 has slightly shorter eye relief if this is a concern.

i guess my main concern is that the 4200 is still a bushnell, and i have known a lot of people who have bought bushnell scopes and tasco scopes and have had to replace them every couple of years, and i am just a little timid to the fact the 4200 says bushnell on the side, i dont know many people who have had real serious problems with nikon scopes, so i guess that is what my main issue is i dont want to buy a $300 throw away, but from what i have read in various forum posts you guys all really like the 4200 |

The Bushnell name is haunted by a history of inferior optics(well deserved IMO),they still make some of these legendary inferior optics in China but this is not the case with the Elites. The Elites use to be labeled Bauch & Lomb and are made in japan to much higher standards, this is still the case with this rare Bushnell exeption that does not deserve the bad rap. |

Go buy a Bushnell Elite 4200 and you will be really glad you did. Then put the buckmaster in the safe as a backup. |

oh i went old school since i live in northern mn most of my shots are inside of 100 yards, so i just bought a nikoplex reticle, nothing fancy, i used to live in sw wy and there you could shoot at animals from a long ways so this is a big adjustment for me i'm used to walking all day, now i sit in a tree stand. i have now entered a land dominated by pump action .270 win cheapo bushnell scopes coming from a land dominated by magnums.

What you say about WY is true and sad. We are overrun with so called hunters who (based on the poaching arrests) are generally from CA or the East Coast. They are equipped with ATVs, super magnums and 6 to 100 power 80 mm objective scopes. Hunting consists of chasing game into closed areas on the ATVs and then shooting off legs and sundry body parts while high fiving each other. In addition, our state is being taking over by the oil/gas companies and their dirtbag subhuman workforce, I would suggest any out of stater looking for a positive hunting experience avoid my home state. Montana, Utah & Idaho offer a much better experience without the risk of your horse being shot out from under you by some cretin roustabout.http://www.wyomingoutdoorcouncil.org/news/newslet ter/docs/2002b/pinedale.php

Agree but oil/gasfield slobs are "in state" hunters and yes County 4 has more poachers, slobs, sign shooters, and ATV abusers per capita than anywhere in WY.
Find a jerk and he'll have a "4" plate. |

Wow that is down right depressing what is happening in WY. I live in N.Caif. and I can tell you that hunting in some of the National Forrest can get down right spooky. There are people out there (Usually with some cheap SKS type) gun that will shoot at anything that moves and then figure out what they shot later.
Combine that with having to worry about walking into a green cash crop (Marijuana) or some meth lab and hunters really have to be careful walking into public lands. Sad.
Then we have to factor in the bigger problem that there is a public atleast out here in the People's Republic of California where they really don't like hunting anyways. Then you got some sign sniper running around and that gives the anti hunting public the image that all sportsmen are like those idiots.
Ok, off my soap box
On a side note Pyro: Those old .270 pumps are good old rifles, with a decent scope they work great..just plain and simple. AC Edited by Acenturian |

SVD is at it again. Hard to believe so much hostility AND ignorance in one package. The word is fagot coming from English public schools. Too late on offspring, have two and they hate ATV county 4 jerks too. Didn't Chris get the word across to you that obscene name calling was not permitted? You really need to calm down before you pop something. or is Rock Springs home?
