Does anyone know about these?

I called this site's store and all they could tell me is the limited information that I already read at this link.

http://www.swfa.com/pc-1567-173-zeiss-8x20-design-binocular. aspx

And there is no mention of this bino on Zeiss's site.

Chris,

I believe you will find more information simply by doing a google search.

If I am remembering correctly (which might be a bit of a stretch...)

The Design Select line was introduced after the Classic model but before the Victory series.  I'm not positive but, I believe that this line only dealt with compact binoculars. As I recall, these have essentially the same optics as the Classics but, with updated ergonomics (single hinge design, updated eyecups, etc.)

Later came the Victory series which incorporated the updated ergonomics of the Design Selects but, with better optics.  The Victory line also received upgrades to its optics and became the Victory IIs and then finally, the current Victory FLs (though no compacts have been officially cristened into the FL line.)

Basically I would say that if you like the ergonomics of the Victory line of compacts but, don't have disposable cash to cover their cost, then the Design Selects might a good option as you get the same handling characteristics as the Victories but, with optics comparable to the Classics (which are pretty darn good in their own right,) and at a somewhat discounted price. (Actually, taken as a whole package, I still prefer the compact Classics to any of Zeiss' newer compact offerings.)

What if the hokey pokey really is what it's all about?

I your opinion, how do they compare to the Leica trinovid series of compacts?

I'm purposely leaving out the Nikon Premier and the Swaroski 8x20s because the rear focus knobs. My pinky finger will not comfortably reach that far.

My preference for Zeiss Classic Compacts over their others is really more a function of ergonomics than optics. I don't care for the off-set single hinge on the newer Zeiss models.  For this reason alone, I'm sure I would also prefer the Trinovids though, I have never actually compared them.
