I have an opportunity to sell my leupold vari-X III 3.5-10X50 scope to
a good friend of mine. I am thinking of upgrading to a VXIII 3.5-10X40
as I would prefer the 40 obj to the 50.
The question I have is do you think the new VXIII will have the same amount of eye relief as my variXIII? My model seems to have a large amount of eye relief, more than I have ever seen on a scope, seems to have around 6 inches or more. Any thoughts? Thanks Mike. |

http://www.riflescopes.com/default.asp is showing both as 4.4 to 3.5 inches of eye relief for both scopes.

ya no joke I can hold a ruler at 6 inches and have full view actually I can hold at 6.5-7 and still have not lose any fiew but thats pushing it. 4in is as close as I can get before I start losing picture. Im not a huge leupold fan but this scope's eye relief is kinda nice on my 338WM. |

Went digging through our system and found the specs on the Vari-X model.
Eye Relief (in): 4.6(3.5x) 3.6(10x)
Not sure how you're getting 6". Don't recall even seeing a scope with advertised eye relief over 6".
The Leupold scout scope has an eye relief of 9.3".
