Just have another questions for you guys. I was gone to buy a Leupold VXIII 3.5x10 Boone and Crockett until I found this website. I am now going with the Bushenll Elite 4200. I just bought a remington 700 30-06 and am getting a good scope that will last awhile. I do not know to go with the 3x9x40 with the ballistic reticle or the 2.5x10x40 multi x reticle. I am shooting from ranges between 50-350 yards. For some reason I am stuck on the ballistic reticles. Another idea I am throwing around is to go with the FireFly option that they have? What do you guys think of them and which one would you guys go with? Any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I have a Burris Signature Select and a Bushnell 4200 I'd still give the better glass edge to the Bushnell 4200 Elite.
My Elite is the 2.5-10x40 they didnt have the 3-9x40 yet when I bought it. I like the lower range of he 2.5x its not much different then 3x but a little lower. HOWEVER, there is a price savings when going with the 3-9x40. That is the one I would buy. It is a great scope at a very good price.
You cant go wrong with a decent quality scope but I really believe that the Bushnell 4200 Elite is about the best bang for your buck. The glass is incedible almost as nice as my Conquest, I still think the Conquest has it ever so slightly in very low light performance but the 4200 is right there....great scope.
Good luck AC |

as far as the reticle goes - i would lean toward the regular plex
with a 30.06, sight it in to be 1" or 1.5" high at 100 - that way it's pretty much flat at 200, and if you 'keep it in the fur' at 300 yrds - you'll hit the target in the 'gearbox'. I think the cartridge i shot only dropped 4-6 inches at 300 if THAT. so you are talking 2-3 inch drop (in relation to the center of the crosshairs) at 300 - that's pretty damn good.
DISCLAIMER*** I am NOT a ballistics expert. these are estimates from my own experience.
i got excellent ballistics w/ 165 grn BTSP bullets from hornady - and they have a WONDERFUL 'baseball bat' effects at longer ranges. WHAP!!
the ballistic reticle (mil dot?) wouldn't help you really, unless 350 yrds or more downrange, and then there would still be trial and error to see where the marks relate to actual yardage for YOUR setup.
i have heard good things about the firefly reticle, but you may not need it.

if you don't like it, i'll buy it from you. hehe.......i actually could use another one.
good luck and let us know what you choose/how you like it.

Thanks for the reply. I think I might go with the 2.5x10x40. It has a greater field of view and most of my deer have been running, so I need all the help I can get. Thanks again, more information is welcomed. Thanks |

I finally decided on the Bushnell Elite 4200 2.5X10X40 with the Firefly. Firefly only cost another $30 and why not, already spending $400 already. I just want to thank you guys for your advice throughout the board. A lot of good opinions and information throughout. I was always told Leupold, but now I am gone to try something different. Thanks again
