I am about to purchase a Remington 700 DM in 30.06. Any suggestions on an appropriate scope?
Thanks

Yep, you got two choices. A 3-9x40 Bushnell Elite 4200 or a 2.5-10x40 Bushnell Elite 4200. Take your pick. Solid choice of rifles bye the way.

if you are on a budget, definitely the 4200, or a meopta meostar for a little more money.

what kind of conditions are you hunting under? low light? open fields?

if you ARENT on a budget - try an IOR, Kahles, or Zeiss.

use 165 grain hornaday Boat tail soft points - EXCELLENT round in 30.06.

for hunting and paperpunching.

good luck.

J

I would like not to go over $300. Most hunts should be in 0pen fields.
I appreciate the responses--thank you one and all!!

Ditto on the 3-9 4200 and the rifle choice.

Just wanted to give him an open playing field. I guess he could have two more choices, silver and glossy!!!

OK, you got me there. So it's matte, silver or glossy, multi-x or FireFly, 40mm or 50mm. That's alot of choices. Almost forgot 1inch or 30mm tube electical-a-sized reticle. Now if you want neon metallic green with pink paint splatters and target turrets rambo style, you gotta go Leupold.

You could keep her expectations low via Leupold, or spoil her in Elite's. I'm the latter if the green light goes from the boss.

I'm not touching the Leupold one. I am a convert and believe that LOW makes excellent scopes. If the 7mm RUM thread further down is any indication the anti 700 crowd should be chiming in soon, too.
