Well, I want a pair of 8x42 or 10x42 Roof binos for stalking and Treestand hunting. I will use them for counting points on horns and glassing the woods for movement while stalking which I do a lot of. Which of these three Binos has the best low light glass, and more importantly resoloution? Bushnell Discoverer,Pentax DCFSP or Leupold Pinnacles. Also, which of these is more comfortable to use and focus faster or easier?

Look instead for a pair of binoculars that is Individually focused.

The individually focus binoculars will be focused once by you and then works on all distances without manipulation.

The only people needing centerfocus stuff is birders who looks at items at extremely close range and very old people with tired eyes.

For all others is the centerfocus an expensive fashion that makes the binocular more fragile and much slower to use.

Dave,

I have tried/owned all of the bins in question. I did not prefer the ergonomics or eyecups on the Pinnacles though the optics were quite good. The Discoverers have excellent optics for the price. An exceptionally wide view for the respective magnifications though 1/3rd of the outer edge of the image is distorted. However, many folks tend to find wider angle binoculars somewhat brighter. The specifics are beyond me. The Pentax SPs are just the opposite in the sense that their edge sharpness is better but they have a narrower field of view. I would probably opt for the Discoverers if price is an issue. If it isn't then probably the Pentaxs.

Having owned a pair of Discoverer's in 10x42 I can say that they are a heck of a nice glass for the money. In the 3-350 price range, their though to beat. The 8x42 have a very wide field of view as Frank stated.

What if the hokey pokey really is what it's all about?

The most durable design binocular is a roof prism design. Not all IF bino's are created equal. I have to go back and take my mid-afternoon nap now.

If you have time to browse, check out www.valdada.com for IOR B/GA 10x40 binocular, or, www.ketmer.com for IOR B/DF 10x50 binocular. These are IF binoculars, I think you will find them quite interesting. (low light, oversized BaK-4 prisms, high resolution, & comfortable)

Lucznik raised the proper flag on this one.  If IF binoculars were so great, they'd own the market.

The only things that IF binoculars have in their favor is that they are cheaper and that there are fewer parts that can break because they don't have a focusing mechanism.
