I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this scope in 4-12 X 42 mm. I was thinking of buying one, but was wondering why they are on close-out pricing? Were there problems with this line or is Simmons just phasing them out?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

as far as i know, it was becuase simmons was jsut bought by meade, and they are getting rid of the line. i think the simmons whitetail has the best glass in any scope below $200.

The Simmons Aetec would be a tough competitor under $200 for the best glass.

Simmons was sold to Blount who sold them to ATK who sold them Meade and each time each company would buy and sell huge numbers of the best sellers to recoup on their investment before selling the company.  The problem they created was that the next guy could not sell the WTE any longer because the margins had been ruined.

Great scope for a great price....same scenario for the Aetec.
