My wife and I pigged out on venison on those two antelope that I shot. We had venison every day plus biltong.

Then I was in this hotel in Pongola one time having some drinks with this tool pusher from a drilling rig...(they call them Chargehands over there..) and there was some fella out back in the courtyard of this old fashioned hotel straight out of Queen Victoria's time, and he was having a big braai of the game he had bagged recently...and that guy was sending platters of venison and wart hog into the bar for everyone to just stuff in our faces. We were drinking like crazy (some of those people in South Africa drink alcoholic beverages..) and we were eating this meat with our hands.... Bucky

The reason the meat is not talked about much is that visitor hunters mostly cannot take the meat home with them....the airlines tend to complain a bit if there is blood dripping out of your luggage. So it tends very much to be a trophy style hunt.
In South Africa the so-called meat hunter is big business. Locals tend to hunt for the freezer and dried meat and do not care for the trophy.

Kudu, impala, gemsbuck, eland etc make good cuts of meat.

Very nice, I always hear of the hunts but the meat isnt talked about much. Maybe one day I'll get over. I'm just waiting for KB to go and drag me along as a ammo holder.

Yes the meat is good stuff. I shot two nice kudu cows for my home consumption.

The FM (F......g Magic)of reloading... just when things look really good "something" changes.  Yes, I would say the Peregrine 184s do a "decent" job...

Nice stuff!

I have tried 100gr VLR4s in my 257 Roberts but not great expansion. The 150gr VLR4s work well in 30-06.

I have some 250gr VRG3 to work up in my 9.3x62
