Really torn here.  Have a 300wby that is in need of some glass.  Decision is between a Burris FFII 4.5-14x42 and a Burris Black Diamond 2.5-10x44.  The Burris I can get as a package with the free spotting scope...the Black Diamond I can get for essentially the same price from a friend who bought it but never installed it.  Am I an idiot in not snapping up the Black Diamond?  Or is it not enough of a difference in quality that I should go for the free spotting scope in combo with the FFII?  Most of my hunting is done in Texas and the midwest....typical shot is 200-300 yards.

Hello

Welcome to optics talk. The Black Diamond is a much better scope in every way.

You should snatch it up A.S.A.P,

Thank you for the fast advice...that is what my gut is telling me...just couldn't find any data on the BD scope since Burris has gone exclusively to 50mm and has discontinued this scope....

That scope is now labeled Euro Diamond instead of Black Diamond.  The specs are availableon Burris website.

Good scope.

What everyone else has said, buy the Black Diamond. The Fullfield is a great entry level good scope but the Diamond is several steps up in performance.

I had a Black Diamond 2.5-10X44.  I liked it and wanted another but they had quit making it so I bought the Euro Diamond 2.5-10X44.  Major disappointment  They are NOT the same scope.

Buy the Black Diamond, if you haven't already.

It surprises me that you all like the black diamond.

I have tested the Euro diamond some time ago and it had a serious parallax problem on 100 yards and to me it felt like looking through an aquarium.

The scope was brand new, but it could of course have been a "monday" scope.

Regards Technika

Technika I agree with mwyates post, the euro diamond is not a black diamond they are not

the same scope. The black diamond is a fine scope for the money in the US, in europe it is

to expensive and there are better scopes for the price. The black diamond is beter than a euro

diamond but the black diamond  can not compete with the real euro's.
