A buddy of mine, retired Marine, recently purchased a subject handgun.  He was doing some CQB practice with it and the slide and the frame cracked.  He loved the accuracy, feel and the trigger.  Said the gun had less than 1000 rounds through it.
Anyone else had an experience like this?  Heard of anything like this?

my dad and i each have one. Had them for i bet 15ish years. Many thousands of rounds through them. We have not had any issues with ours.
Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

Kind of what I thought.  Walther, generally, makes good "stuff".  This gun is one of the "new design"??? I've not kept up on what that means in the way of performance.

Have three,  one has I guarantee over 10k rounds through it both suppressed and obnoxious.  Never an issue with any of them.

he's definitely sending it back... I've just been trying to convince him that "stuff happens".

Any single example of any mechanical product from any manufacturer can break. All manufacturers have service/repair/warranty departments for a reason. Name any firearm of any brand and model, and someone somewhere has had one break. Without inspecting the gun, it's impossible to know what happened and why, and whether it was the result of a manufacturing defect or some other issue unrelated to a product flaw.

Yep, that's what I've been telling him... he was really put off and "never going to use one of their products again".  I keep telling him to take a deep breath, let them replace it, then go out and try to break another one...
