Looking for advice....Optically is there much/any difference between a leupold vx5hd 2-10 and a Kahles Helia 3,,, 3-9 x42mm????
Hoping to purchase one of the above scopes to use on a 243. Most of the hunting is for deer/ dawn dusk type shots plus occasional varmint (wallabys) hunting out to 350yards max in open hill country... My preference is towards the kahles....

I own several Kahles scopes. I have a 2.2-9x42 C model with 30mm tube. I can tell you that the folks around here have always spoken highly of the 1" scopes. They may even have the same glass as the C models. If you can get the Helia 3-9 with a 4A reticle you would be doing very well for the hunting conditions you describe.
I cannot comment on the Leupy but also read good things.

I owned a VX5HD 2-10×42 duplex no CDS for a little over a year....anyways my opinion is its a very well made scope with very nice glass. The few complaints I had were the 30mm maintube(i'm in the minority nowadays I guess) and the wider than I'm used to, duplex crosshairs. The thicker to finer duplex area is bigger in other words. On a full size rifle I have no problem with a 30mm maintube though. Good scope for the money IMO....keep in mind I did not have CDS and do not dial but I've read good reports on this but have no first hand knowledge. That being said, the Kahles has better glass surely, but not sure on any better internals. I've owned a 1" Kahles 2-7×36 in the past and was very good.
