I definitely considered the leupold option although I was looking at a Vx-3i. Im a made in usa guy so I liked that but I got discouraged reading forum posts about the leupold mid range and lower range scopes. I actually had a quote for a vx3i 2.5-8 tmr/m1 for 650.00.

One possible you may wish to consider is that you can go to Leupold Custom shop and take a scope like an FX II fixed 6 power with 36mm objective and add any reticle of choice like long range duplex (+$80.) then add target style adjustible knobs (+$130.) or M1 style knobs (+$130) and build it to your specifications. This is an example you may like a different reticle or BDC knobs etc but it gives you lots of options on any scope that Leupold makes and takes about 10 to 12 weeks for a custom order.

Thanks for the replies!
After tons of research and also finding the sale on SWFA I have one on its way (razor hd lh 1.5-8). If the SS ultralight had a milling reticle I would have probably gone with that instead. I'm thinking the only way ihd lh 1.5-8 could be better is if I could get the hsr-4 reticle in it. But this isn't really a dedicated long-range rig just something I'd like to play with so I'm sure the G4 will suffice. |

^^^^I wholeheartedly agree with this. It's an excellent little scope! Koshkin sent me one he had to test for awhile, and I liked it so much I ended up buying one.
I don't know how it would perform in a hardcore "dial spinning" drop correction role, as I don't think it was designed for that. I've never done any extensive tracking testing on it. It might fare well, IDK. But for "set and forget" hunting duty, it's fantastic. It's optically superb, the G4 reticle is outstanding, and it's light and compact.

Vortex Razor HD LH 1.5-8x32.
This is probably the best 1" tube 32mm objective scope on the market right now. The reticle is a BDC type. The turrets are MOA and you can get a custom one made by Kenton if you are so inclined. ILya

Hello new here.
So I've got this old 30-06 rifle Grandpa built on a Mauser 98 action. I'm staying with the weaver side mount that is on it because I'd rather just go buy a different rifle then take this one to a Smith and get a rail put on. I need to replace the ancient 3-9x 32 Bushnell that is on it. I'd like to have a reticle and turrets that let me play with some long-range stuff within the limits of the mount and gun. I need: 1 inch tube 36 mm or less obj. $700 or under preferably. Matching turrets and reticle. Leupold VX-3i 2.5-8×36 With custom shop m1 turrets almost fits the bill but they dont offer mil turrets to go with the milling reticle or a good moa reticle to go with the moa turrets. |
