Here lately I'm really wanting a 300blk in a bolt action. I've come down to 2 off the shelf solutions if I get one. Cz 527 and ruger American ranch.
Pros Cz-mini mauser action. Real trigger. Ruger- ar15 magazine Pic rail Price Cons- Cz - propriety mag Speciality rings. High scope mount requires to bolt throw Ruger. Trigger. Not really a con, but I prefer real triggers. |

I have a the CZ527 in .223 and really like it. A buddy of mine had Ruger Americans in .243W and .308W but ditched them for a Tikka T3. He also has the CZ527 in 7.62x39 and likes it a lot! I'd go for the CZ personlly having shot all those Scrummy

A buddy of mine has the Ruger American in .300 Blk and likes it. I’ve played with it a bit. It’s a good rifle for the money and shoots well. I don’t care for the tab in the trigger, and if it were mine, I’d just remove it. Otherwise, I can’t criticize anything else about the rifle for the money you pay for it.

Be interesting if they make those same rifles in 9x39 now that ammo is coming in

I had one several years ago, built on a 700 action. It extracted great but on ejection, tended to just dump the spent brass on the follower, still in the action.
They have probably fixed this, but i’ve seen a few people complain about some version of the same. Quietest, easiest-to-move option is definitively a bolt gun. They are fun. |

I have the ruger but with the rotary magazine. The american stocks suck big time. I put mine in a boyds stock and it turned out real nice. Mine has been reliable and it quite accurate. I only shoot subs out of mine, its like shooting a air pellet gun.

I was planning on going with the version the uses ar15 mags. Any advantage of rotary mag? |

I use a Ruger American with the rotary mag for cast bullets. They are finicky with cast bullet shapes. The rotary mags are not all that good. Ruger has had a lot feeding issues in the American with them. I hope the AR mags work better. They were not out when I got mine. The rifles are great, the mags so-so.

Just an fyi. I don’t think boyds makes a stock that will work with the ar mag.

I have a Ruger American #6968 in 300 BLK. The only thing I have shot from it are subs that I have hand loaded. It functions well and is pretty accurate at 100 yards. I don't remember if I tried my AI mags to see if they would work.
