I am just curious, I want to get a Leupold 3-9x33 VX-II Rimfire E.F.R. and use it on my .17 mach2 but in the future I may want to use it on a centerfire rifle, maybe a .30-06 or something. Will the recoil get it off its zero or something? Break the reticle? Thanks.

Isn't it designated a "rimfire" because its paralex is adjusted to 50 yds rather than 100....not sure if I worded that right......maybe its paraflex free at 50 yds........anyway, is this right?

E.F.R. = AO :)
Anways, Leupold makes a ultralite JUST LIKE this model but it has a different finish and a thicker duplex. |

You do realize that the Leupold in question has the glass made either in Japan or Korea, right? It is assembled in US, bot most of the parts come from various Pacific Rim countries.

Yes I am aware, but only the glass is made in Japan and Korea. Everything else is made in the US and assembled in the US. ATleast on the higher quality Leupolds

Ok lets stay with Leupold and go with a VXIII in what ever power you like I really like the 30 mm tube 4.5-14x50 . The difference in a rimfire scope vs a standard scope is where it is set to be Parallex free focusing at closer ranges is more important with rimfire. Can you use it - yes, is it ideal - no. If you want that and are going to leave it on the rimfire OK, but if you are buying a scope for a 30-06 and using it temporarily on a rimfire buy the scope that is right for the gun it will eventually go on. |
