What are the pros and cons for a "quick release" (Leupold) base. Wouldn't that be better than a standard base? Thanks much, |

Yes. Much better than a standard base. (Of course, you need to get the QR rings, too.)
The reasons: 1. It's a strong mount. It locks down firmly at BOTH the front and the back. 2. You can take the scope off for cleaning or travel. It returns to zero nicely when you put it back on. This avoids "baggage handler" syndrome (i.e., changes in zero from rough handling on the airlines.) 3. You can carry an extra scope sighted in and ready to go in a second set of rings. This gives you a backup, or another choice in scope powers, or an instant changeover for a different load and bullet weight. (You don't have to worry about where you left your last scope settings.)
I strongly endorse them! |
