I placed the rifle in sandbags and loosened the rings.I made my own level device.I took an octagon shaped screwdriver bit from a small hobby screwdriver that removes and is phillips on one end and slotted on the other. From a six inch level I took out one of the little bubble levels and glued it with super glue on one end of the bit.The level I used was a plastic one that the individual levels can be popped out. After I glued it on, I layed it on several flat surfaces such as tables and so on along with the line level and made sure it read the same as the line level did.It did everytime so I figured maybe that was ok.I then placed it on the back of the scope base nearest the butt end of the stock and wrapped a rubber band around the rifle so it was fastened to it.I rotated the rifle until it was level. Then I set a line level on the top scope cap and turned the scope until it was level and tightened it down.
They say a level don't lie but to my eye when I raise the rifle it looks a "little" off, but at least I know it is level however with the gun. What say you, is it better to do it this way or eyeball it? |

Your going to drive yourself crazy, hammer. I set mine up with a line level and then go shooting. Won't matter if it's perfect or not. |

If at first you don't secede...try..try again.
