Another quick update. With a few thousand more rounds through 2 guns with RMS and 1 with RMR, I am still trying to get fully comfortable with a dot on a handgun. I have been doing it for many years with rifles, but something has not yet "clicked" in my head when it comes to pistols. Strangely, for slow fire range work, it is fine; but when it comes to drills, I am slower (and/or less accurate) with the dot than I am irons. Granted, I am a few months in, unlearning/relearning what I spent the better part of 30 years learning otherwise. I'm still pissed at my Glocks, I cannot find a comfortable hand position that keeps my trigger finger from touching anything but trigger blade. It drags the frame or trigger guard - and I hate that. I shoot the Glocks fine, not nearly as well as a 1911 or HK, but have confidence in them; I just hate the feel of it. I'll give it a bit longer, but may eventually dump all but my smallest Glock and go back to what I know and love. For the record, my LoneWolf frame has none of the issues my "GlocK' glocks have, other than trigger that I don't love. For very low light or for night-vision-use scenarios, I like red dots on handguns. For everything else, I am still an iron sights guy. But I am still trying to be a red dot handgun guy!

A quick update. I continue to pour rounds through my RMS-equipped pistol and I like it allot - enough to move the RMR off my carry pistol and replace with an RMS. As said (and shown) above, if the optic fails, sights are still there doing their thing, so an optic failure isn't as catastrophic as it would be if the optic precluded use of irons. And I hate suppressor-height sites, they chew up holsters and shirts and generally excel at pissing me off. If you want a 4MOA RMS, everyone seems to be out, except Shield proper. The dot is visible from in front of the weapon; however, it is a handgun, if I am pointing it at you, the hole beneath the optic should be of much more concern than the tiny, dim red light you see. It isn't bright, but it is there. More to follow.

Mostly. But you see that the sight is designed to allow use of standard irons in the event of sight failure. Which I like immensely. That helps override some of my concerns about its durability.

RMS still going strong, many slide racks with the sight only, no hiccups. Holding zero even with some rough handling. I am concerned about failure testing it, on my dime, as I obtain a great data point - and a broken sight.
With this design, I have a bit more confidence than the RMS and FastFire as I can use standard sights as backup to a red dot failure. And without suppressor-height sights, noless. |

Ilya, to clarify, I have the TT315P, not the M, and love the turrets. It was out again this weekend and I really, really like this scope. With the ARD off and a white phos clip-on, I could easily engage targets 24 hours a day. The RMS is still in the wring-out phase, but more to come.

Yeah, that wasn't very well phrased on my part. With Tangent Theta, if you like the turrets in TT315M, you should really try the turrets on the 5-25x56 some time. It is a somewhat different design. ILya

It could read both ways. More to come. By the way, I rung out the Tangent Theta quite a bit, am starting to love that scope. Might be my EREK-killer. |

To clarify: I replace batteries once a year, so that is how often I expect to use the battery tray feature. The gun that the RMS sits on is shot once a week or so. That is not as much as I would like, but that's all I have time for. ILya

Mine will see considerably more use than a few times a year.
And yes, I used the hex wrench, and no, iโm not a total moron. Just a partial moron. But I used the hex wrench. |

Did you use the included hex wrench to pop the battery tray out?
It is a little stuff, but I expect to use it once a year or so, which is seldom enough to not bother me. ILya |

I need to try the shield. I have the rms and have some durability concerns. I love the weight and basic design (no suppressor-height sights needed), but constant on bothers me, and the pop-out battery tray on mine didnโt want to pop out.
That aside, function is so far good, zero operation is a bit wonky, but I donโt plan on needing to do it often. |

Got it. I was very surprised by how much I liked the SIS. I did all sorts of nasty things trying to break it and it is completely unscathed. ILya |

Room clearing expression, so I'm told. Man in rear pressed tight against man in front.
Good review. I might pick up one this year. Feel like I'm cheating on Aimpoint, I must admit.

I am not familiar with expression, so you will have to clarify. I meant rapid target acquisition at distances from arm's reach to across the room. ILya |

Nice write up, as usual, Mr. Koshkin. I like the fact that the reticle can be switched around, depending on application. |
