My dad was hunting elk on Saturday and he was hiking through some trees and snow was falling on him and the gun from the trees.  Said he got to the rock he wanted to sit on and sat down for a while.  Later on he went to open the action of the gun to do a chamber check and it was froze shut.  He figured the water from the snow froze it shot.  Held his hand on it for a while and warmed it up a bit and it opened up.

When he got back to his RZR he went to unload it and it was frozen shut again.  Had to warm it up some more to get it open.

Makes sense it could happen, but I have never had it happen to me while hunting before.

Anyone had this issue before?

Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

Was it right around freezing when it happened? Seems like that would create the right conditions for something like this.

Just keep a chem pak hand warmer in pocket to place on the action.

was the gun inside prior to going hunting?  Temperature change of the metal from room temp inside could have caused excess moisture to build up and that froze..... wouldn't think that just rain or snow falling on it would cause it to in itself....

No it was in his gunboot on his rzr all night. But it must still have been warmer than the snow. I have got gun wet and covered in snow before. But never had one freeze up like that.
