A Meopta Meostar R1 1-4x20 non-illuminated (30mm tube) or a Docter Sport 3-9x40 (1 inch tube). This scope would be mounted on a Ruger M77 Compact 243 caliber rifle. It's 35.5 inches from tip to tip. The purpose would be for hunting medium (coyotes) to large game (whitetail deer) at a distance no greater than 250 yards. Which is better mechanically and optically?

Apples and oranges. These are very dissimilar configurations.
Meopta is better both mechanically and optically, but the Docter is a better scope for what you want to do. Ilya |

Used to be similar to Conquest, but a bit better now. I think the new ones are a bit improved. ILya

FYI, I kept the Meostar R1 1-4x22. There aren't many scopes out there that would make me parts ways with it. I was just toying with the idea. Plus, I rarely turn the any variable above 5 anyways so 4 on the top end is sufficient. Thanks for the input guys.
