That looks about normal with a 175 scenar. Really you need to measure it write it down and measure again after 8-10K rounds. You'll know when you've shot the barrel out.

I beg to differ on that your measuring ogive of bullet to lands bullet styles will effect that measurement. |

No problem, your right COL will be different. At .385 jump I am still able to break clays at 400 yards. That being said, after 9K+ rounds I've opted to replace the barrel.

My loaded rounds turned the rifle into a single shot.

I wouldn't worry to much about it unless it is not accurate and you narrow it down that excessive jump in the issue. That rifle is known to be extremely accurate. I have seem many of them shot in precision rifle classes I have taken and they have always been sub moa guns. With a good shooter I have seen many of them shoot 1/2 moa with factory federal GMM ammo.
I have a 700 vs that would shoot 1/2 moa with good ammo. It had a huge freebore, but it never affected it enough to cause problems. If I guy was chasing the smallest groups possible, then likely that may cause some consistency issues. But if that was the case said guy would not be shooting a $1100 factory rifle either. |

Great rifle for the money, I've had a few Mil Specs and shot many more.
Why 155s? What are you doing with the rifle?

If looking for "ideal for 1k", the esteemed 308 is not the king of that hill.
As that part seems to be a done deal, the 155s are great at BC and velocity compared to the 175s; however, they don't buck the wind well. I shoot in high wind often, so 155s aren't my first choice. Mileage varies. |

Any man making a 1K shot is doing something as I'd bet 90% can't make that shot. Different tools for different jobs as they say but wanting to shoot 1K with the 308 I'd look for the heaviest bullet the gun would stabilize and shoot accurately. My FN won't shoot anything heavier than 168 accurately as accurate as I'd like (hoping the badlands precision bullets will work in it) but my old remmy would stabilize the 208 amax with the barrel it had. |

My advice: shoot the barrel out, then replace with a 7mm-08 or 243, you'd get better BCs and less wind drift and more velocity and less recoil.

What is this badlands bullet you speak of?
Also, I do believe the 155 is what they use in the Palma match. I think that's a 1000 yard match. Right now I am testing 178 AMAX over 43gr of IMR4064 in federal cases using their FGMM210 primer. So far, the round seems to be grouping at 100 yards in my FNH bolt gun as well as my LWRCI gas gun. The Freebore in the gas gun is much longer. The OAL I load to is .015" off the rifling in my FNH which drops me right at magazine max length for the gas gun. |

I have an FN as well MikieG, my gun loves the 150-160gr pills. I found that the most any of the 150-155 gr bullets will be one hole. I bought 1000 of the sierra MK 155s that I mainly load for it. Just got some Badlands that I am loading and testing now. Its a new manufacture. member on here makes them. They should be live soon with a website and ordering information. |
