Im a bargain shopper...for sure :)  These sales have my attention a bit, but its next to impossible to find any reviews....

Thinking of picking up a Whiskey 5 in the 2.4-12 config as thats a great range for a 2nd fp hunting rig, but also a Sig Tango 6, the FFP/mil/mil model for an AR that is naked.

Anyone have time with either of these two?  Might end up with both if they are decent, all I could find so far is out of Japan and thats just internet rumor....but as Captain Smek says...

I have never tried one but was was interested enough to check them out. I did have a few questions and so I e-mailed them directly. They (not so promptly) replied... in 3 months! That told me all I needed to know.

They look like decent scopes and you can get a custom turret from sig for the whiskey 5... I'm was considering one as well.... then I looked at my bank account

Maybe its worth 500 to see how a whiskey 5 turns out, free turret as you mentioned might be kind of fun.  i always wondered about those and how people say its only for one weather/altitude condition.

My thoughts have been if the current conditions differed from the ones you used to make the dial, once you rezeroed i would have to think its a pretty linear change so to speak....likely less error in that than most peoples shooting...now i could see if trying to make 800 yard shots it would multiply but for 500 in i would think cant be off too much

Altitude, Temp and Barometric pressures effect air density. This effects velocity. Drop is a parabolic curve. It is not a linear progression.

it follows a pattern though.  pressure and density altitude etc etc....familiar with lots of aviation charts on performance...that part was predictable once you were familiar...

How hard can it be?  Ive never talked to anyone that used one though, id be curious on a custom reticle on a 29.92, 58 degree day at sea level how well it works or doesnt for other conditions.  i suspect for hunting purposes at mid range or less its "good nough"

I have a 3x12x42 Tango 4 on a Steyr 30-06.  Did have to wait months for it to come in

The scope is just what I expected and fits that gun well

I did send in for a custom turret to fit the 200 gr Accubond at 2725 fps zeroed at 200 yds

Really like the zero stop!  It locks in at your zero and you have to pull the turret up to dial elevation or on the windage turret.  There is a groove up inside the turret and a pin  fits up into it when you come back to zero and the turret is pulled down firmly by a spring action inside the scope.  IOW when you return to zero it will lock itself back down and not move until you pull up on the turret again

For the dollars I paid for it, it is an excellent scope

That's a nice scope/setup.

It says "Designed by Sig Sauer in Oregon, Assembled in Phillipines"

It would not surprise me to find out the glass comes from Japan.  That would not be a detriment IMO since they are making some good glass.  Example March scopes

I bit on one of the closeouts...... will see what it looks like soon.

If the product line is successful, I imagine a future offering will be the Foxtrot6?  Marketing with a WTF line.........Big Grin

Using altitude density as a combined factor for a partial firing solution is now more commonplace.  I use it for specific LR loads referencing card decks I make. I'll give Brand Cole credit for this from >10years ago.  Still a better solution today IMO vs. being buried (against time) manipulating some electronic device with a ballistic calc. in the field.   My "starter card" is referenced from a Kestrell and deviation from real-time POI observance if the skit is random or progressive.
I tried a set of custom kenton dials many years ago and they are really easy to get messed up on shooting multiple ranges/conditions, recording POIs and taking real-time corrections into account for the next target or referencing notes.  A custom BDC reticle would be the same.   For the hunting I do, none of this is a factor but still could be better solved in the same manner IMO.

I checked out a whiskey 3 in a local store. Glass seemed good with a somewhat picky eye box. I like the fiber optic illumination they offer. Theyre pretty new so, a retail setting is the only place Ive seen any of them.

The new 5x25x52 Whiskey 5 I just got says "Designed by Sig Sauer in Oregon, Assembled in Japan"

Nice and clear.  Like the Hellfire Triplex little bitty illuminated dot

The recently received 2.4-12x56 looks good optically, I haven't gotten scientific with it. Finish and feel of the controls is well executed.  The "firedot" is very well executed. The packaging is ridiculously over the top.  The eyebox is very poor even at the lowest magnification.
