I have a Bushnel Elite straight thru spotter 20x60x80 that has the ED glass and Im wondering if I lost the gas inside. It just looks darker- grayer compared to my sons Vortex diamondback. I see hardly any difference in the two except for the Bushnell is supposed to be right up there in a quality glass. I purcashed this around 06-07 after bushnell took over Bausch and Lomb. Maybe its me at 60 yrs old but Im just not seeing the clarity I should with the bushnell and it has been well taken care of . |

may be wrong here, its happened before, but most of the time the gas just keeps external air from getting in the scope body and that prevents fogging... I guess it could cause the glass coatings to break down over time but don't think that it alone would cause a deterioration in image. 10yrs is a long time for optics clarity..... What was great back in the day may only be similar to midrange now. Someone far more knowledgeable will I'm sure chime in.... BTW |
