I need to write on the history of scopes for this site Gunivore. Are there any good books and sites other than Wikipedia to learn on the subject?

That is an awfully BROAD topic... could take a long time to do the research and properly compose. What is the purpose? Contact koshkin. He might be able to steer you to a narrow index of sources. Rifledude has some history he may share with you. Son of Ed has some ancient history. (kidding... he's forgotten most of anything earlier than 16th century) |

Opinion,untempered by fact,is ignorance.

I get a lot of technical information out of OLD RIFLE SCOPES by Nick Stroebel from Albuquerque. It may be out of print now. Of course, I remember when those scopes hit the market!!!
also all the old Shooter's Bibles and Gun Digests and American Rifleman magazines..... ( wikipedia!!!! ) |

Go back to our Civil war, like mid 1860's. As I can remember, brass tubes, like 3 feet or so long, external adjustments. I am old but not that old. The NRA museum might be a good start. |

When you are dead, you don't know you are dead.It is difficult only for others.
It is the same when you are stupid. |
