Sig Sauer 7x25 KILO2000 Laser RangefinderIf you're looking for a rangefinder you need to check out this new Sig KILO2000. Ranges up to 3,400 yards and affordably priced at $499.95. I took it up on our roof top to play with the "HyperScan" mode and to stretch it's legs. I was also able to get it to range 3,135.2 yards. Updating at 4X per second in HyperScan mode, the KILO2000 rangefinder with patented LightWave™ DSP technology is amazingly fast as well.
The built in inclinometer calculates AMR™ Angle Modified Range for angled shots. Proprietary Lumatic OLED Display™, automatically adjusts display intensity to match ambient light conditions, bright in bright conditions and dim in twilight to protect your eye. The KILO2000’s simplified user interface displays your system status and while ranging, only provides your necessary data. Edited by Brady - December/29/2015 at 13:52 |

I wish I hadn't seen this. Although at the ranges I hunt there's no RATIONAL reason to replace my Zeiss.

I ordered one , everybody I talked to about rf's in general all suggested I take a hard look at the Sig. I remember when the Lieca 1200 came out folks were singing its praises and you know what ? ,it was and still is a good rf.I will report back in a week or 2 .

A friend put the Kilo through a pretty thorough evaluation and compared it to several of the top consumer RFs.
His conclusion was that the Kilo is an absolute home run, especially in value.

I got a KILO 2000 a little while back and have been playing with it. Frankly, I've been astonished at its performance. I have a steep mountain near my home and there is a good variety of "targets" to range from the comfort of my front porch. Neighbor and I were standing in my driveway and ranged a prominent boulder on the mountain side at 2862 yards. We then walked to the end of the driveway about 20 yards closer and ranged it again. You guessed it... 2843 yards. If only I had this gadget back in my hard core sheep hunting days! Plus the danged thing is affordable! I'll bet the competitors are really squirming.

So it can range over 2k yards, how's the glass compared to lets say Leica? How's the performance during a hot sunny afternoon when just about every range finder' performance is cut by 1/4 or more.
Please let us know your findings Chop. |

Mike we don't have hot sunny afternoons where I live it's 60* right now with a 20m mph wind out of the WNW which means it coming off the lake which is 52* - 54* now. I love my weather, most of the time. |

Mike it is 90* here today, no clouds,13% humidity, with a 15mph wind, and I can get fast easy returns at over 1000 yards when mounted on my tripod. I bought the LRI tridod adapter, which BTW, is a very slick piece of gear. This was done in my driveway, which is in a suburban area with a lot of trees, and I can't stretch it much further than that due to line of sight issues.
I just hand-held a return at 914 on a telephone pole top. It took hitting the button twice... And I haven't tried the hyper-scan mode yet either! Edited by billyburl2 - June/12/2016 at 13:45 |

Mike, I just got back from my Father in laws house and he has some really good views from his place. In hyper-scan I was getting 2500 yard returns on desert junipers and mesquite trees. Single press returns on the same petered out at 1900 yards. This was all while being mounted on the tripod, and it is now 92* and no clouds.
Back before I bought the tripod adapter, I have had returns on chest sized steel plates at over 1000 yards hand holding braced against my pick-up. But that was at about 8:00 am, on a much cooler day, as well.
