Don't unscrew it! It is probably the cover to where the nitrogen port is located, but it's nothing for you to mess with. (Guessing)

Nitrogen port is located at the bottom side of the ocular. There is a small sticker informing about that.

Probably how they install the erector assembly. I sure wouldnt take it off.

Good question. It's never been discussed before, that I know of. 
The 3-15x SS is one of the few SS scopes I have fooled with.

It is similar to the red streamer the natives tied to the poison darts used to shoot monkeys. When shot the monkeys would run off before they die. With the streamer the monkey will play with the streamer until the poison takes effect, then they die where they can be found.
Folks ain't got a sense of humor no more. They don't laugh they just get sore.

Need to follow the rules. Just hard to determine which set of rules to follow
Now the rules have changed again.
