I'm going to pick up a CVA Scout v2 compact in 7mm-08 for my son.  I'm trying to narrow down which 2-7 scope to put on it.  I really like the vortex diamondback, but eye relief is one of my biggest considerations.  Right now im leaning towards the leupold vx-1 and the weaver classic v7.  Trying to keep the price around $200 and have a regular plex reticle.  Any other suggestions?

I put that exact Diamondback on my Omega a few months ago and really like it. I'd go that route without worries.

I like the Burris Fullfield II 2-7x35.

If all he is doing is plinking out to 100yards and your not to worried about clarity that Vortex would suite you fine.  The Vortex scope don't get really nice until you get into the Viper line and those start around $450 up to $1000.

That is debatable.  I have a Diamond back HP 2-8x and a Viper 2-7x and optically they are not far off from each other.

But both are a great value, and that is not debatable. Wink

Another option to consider is the Redfield Revolution. Nice unit, in your price range, made by Leupold and backed with their lifetime warranty. I bout one for my son's Ruger Hawkeye All Weather in .338 Federal, and he loves it.
