I am looking for a light weight scope.
In this magnification range:
3-12x
4-12x
3-14x
4-14x

Must be AO.
Must be mil-dot or something that is similar with some kind of markings for elevation and windage.
Price range under $500.

Any ideas?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Thanks for the suggestions!

Anyone actually weigh the Sightron SII  4-16 x 42 Mill dot, AO      #SII416X42MD ?
(Sometimes manufactures 'exaggerate ' the weights)!

I'm thinking it weighs around 15-16 ozs.

Leupold's VX-2 4-12 with the Long Range Duplex reticle meets all your criteria, weighs 13.2 ounces and SWFA sells it for $499.95.  The S II Sightron mentioned above has a mildot reticle, is $130 less and weighs 16 ounces.  The Vortex Viper 4-12 with similar features and side focus retails for $399.95 but weighs 16.6 ounces, all weights per manufacturer's claims.  Optical and mechanical quality for all of these should be similar and all are backed by lifetime warranty and excellent customer service.  If you have access to a large big box retailer you can probably compare the three side by side and save sales tax by mail ordering from SWFA.
