I am looking at a Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creedmore.  The rifle seems to get decent reviews. I will be using the rifle for Coyote/varmint apps, might get some whitetail action, and serve as a casual bench gun.

I would appreciate any feed back on this specific rifle as well as any recommendations for alternative choices within the price range. The Ruger comes in under $500, but I'll use $600 as a limit.

Thanks

I'd look at the Savage lineup. Just my opinion.

+1 for the Savage and the come with the Accutrigger which is nice.
Folks ain't got a sense of humor no more. They don't laugh they just get sore.

Need to follow the rules. Just hard to determine which set of rules to follow
Now the rules have changed again.

Thanks for the Savage recommendations. I'll add it to my list of considerations. Anything else out there worth looking at in this range?

Tikka is a little over his $600 limit but a nice choice also.

+2 on the Savage.  If you get bored with the 6.5 Creedmore, you can do a barrel swap and convert it to just about any SA caliber.  Barrel nut on the Savage makes that an easy option if you have a vise.

Number of good after market options (not as many as the Rem 700) for stocks, triggers...etc.

I'm in the process of converting a 308 Savage Model 11 to 260 Rem and stocking it with a B&C Tactical M40 medalist stock.  I've done similar conversions on long action Savages to 338-06, as well as a truck gun to 223 Rem with a Manners T stock.

Other recommendations are good ones, but Savage gives you some easy options in case your gun ADD kicks in.

How could you get sick of the Creedmoor?

I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creedmore too just to take it for a test drive... Have been hearing good stuff on it... Only con I hear is the stock is a little funky...
