Hey just wanted to know if anyone had any experience with this scope. Mainly how does it track? I Just bought a tikka t3 Superlite 7mm RM. For a deer/elk backpacking rifle. also it might be fun to fix up a little bit and make some long range 1000 yard shots. this scope has 80 MOA of up and down which is more than their viper line. It doesnt have the force erector systom like the vipers but the glass seems more pretty. So how does it track? Will it dial like i would want?

Whenever I see the term "Superlight" used in the same sentence as 7mm Mag, my shoulder starts to hurt. Just sighting in a new scope on that setup is going to be treacherous. Unless your a serious recoil junky, you'll want a muzzle brake if your going to do much target shooting with it.

Yeah I know. My friend has this exact gun and it is not fun to shoot at all. I think i shot it the one time and i turned and handed him the gun and said here you go. Its not fun, but what is fun is a super light gun for backpacking. I live in the mountains of Utah and we have to get in and do some serious hiking for the big muleys and elk. I plan on putting a limbsaver pad on it and a muzzle brake in the future.

The 7mm mag will be a great rifle for Elk .  I would skip the muzzle brake, and just dedicate it to hunting as you described. The investment for a brake would be better spent on a dedicated bench gun. The 7 mag shoots well @ longer range, but there are better cartridges IMHO.

I envy your situation. I would love to have access to Elk. I'm not so sure about the hiking thing, I would have a hard time hauling all that meat out on an ATV Big Grin

I've had 5 tikkas and all of them sported Vortex optics. No complaints on either side, from the crossfire to HS-LR they are really nice for the money and their customer service is at the top. I have not put my hands on the Diamondback HP line yet I'm sure its like the rest of them. If you are going to do alot of elevation adjustments you may want to look at the HS-LR the elevation turret is easy to work with the zero stop you wont loose original zero.

I do not own any Vortex scopes, but Koshkin, who posts on here, has

placed the Diamondback model very high in his reviews and rankings of

scopes in this price range.  You should read his review on them, very

educational, check out his website, "Optics Thoughts".

I hope Ilya will chime in.
