"Intelligent" Combat Sight (ICS) from Steiner GREELEY,
CO - Steiner's new "Intelligent" Combat Sight (ICS) integrates a
laser rangefinder and a ballistic calculator into a rugged and compact tactical
weapons sight. The ICS, a true electro-optical aiming device, provides
trajectory compensation by automatically calculating the point of aim based on
ammunition ballistics, measured distance and angle to the target out to 800
meters. "The precision of the 6x40mm ICS greatly increases
accuracy and first round hit probability for improved battlefield effectiveness
for infantry soldiers and tactical operators using small caliber weapons,"
says Tom Frane, VP of Sales, Marketing and Business Development. "Just
feed the ICS your cartridge's ballistic info and the scope's computer and
inclinometer instantly calculate perfect hold-over at your exact distance and
gives you a bright red dot in seconds - all at the push of a button." Despite its sophisticated technology, the ICS is a
ruggedized, simple to operate combat optic that requires minimal training.
While the magnification is optimized for the 7.62X51mm Battle Rifle, the ICS's
internal ballistic calculator is easily configurable for specific 5.56mm, 300
Blackout and .300 WinMag cartridges. |

Ah, finally they've got the Eliminator III packaged for the mil/LE/tactical application.
I was sort of won over by the Eliminator after being very skeptical, so I like the concept of this sight. It is interesting how everyone is converging on 6x being a good general purpose magnification for a precision carbine. ILya

Because really... it is. I think you're right on with this, Ilya. The fact this is a Steiner optic, and due to Steiner's relationship with Burris, I bet this optic does have the exact same electronic components as used in the Eliminator III. I used the Eliminator briefly and did like it, so I'm a little intrigued by this sight as well. |

I agree with you, Ted. 6x is a very good magnification for shooting man size targets out to a few hundred yards.
It is not a surprise that Steiner is basing their ICS around a 6x power scope and Leupold's LCO is 6x as well. Leupold is a decidedly unconventional solution, but it is small and lightweight. Steiner's ICS is definitely going to be bigger and heavier, but it integrates a LRF, which is a different ballgame altogether. ILya
