The Photo Contest theme for November is "FALL" (the season...Autumn...not objects or people impacting the ground).

Beauty. The Commonwealth of Kentucky is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.
If at first you don't secede...try..try again.

Calm before the first winter storm.

Part of my back yard... Kentucky and Alabama have a lot of features in common.  Beautiful when the leaves turn...
I don't have a picture I can load, but there is an area in my front yard we call "The Park" that looks very much like your photo.  Has a bench that we just go sit under the trees sometimes.  We also feed the deer there... (they are "off limits"...)

Dan, somehow I just can't see you sitting down long enough to feed yourself, much less a deer.

Ted, you started this topic to late for me. I'm already in the brown, yellow, and gone part of fall, in my part of Kentucky.
Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

Lynn, don't let that discourage you from participating, buddy! There are many aspects of fall besides colorful leaves that you can take pics of. Think of all the things you enjoy doing during the fall, or whatever represents "fall" where you live, and any of them can be a potential photo subject if you get creative!

I have no idea what subject I'll end up using for my entry. I'll just wait and see what shot opportunity presents itself during the month. To me, the pursuit and uncertainty is part of the fun, just like in hunting.

Good luck!
Ted

I'm not whinning here, I just would like to have gotten the picture when the leaves were at their peak. I may still try to get this picture if I can, but either the sun hasn't been in the right place or clouds and haze have ruined the shots.

More clouds moving you way. The TV weather is mentioning that 4 letter word (SNOW) for this weekend here.

No worries, brother; I never thought you were whining. I just wanted to encourage you to keep your eyes open and realize that some of the best photos are the less obvious subjects where the photographer "thinks outside the box" and gets creative. We'd like to see as many people as possible participating in the photo contest each month. The beauty of it is you can take a camera with you virtually anywhere, so you never know what opportunities you might be presented with.
