Posted this in the LRF sub forum but no one seems to go in there so I'm reposting here. Die hard bow hunter here. Looking to ditch the binoculars while I'm in the stand and just use a LRF. Real world scenario I don't have time to look at a deer with my bino's, set them down, pick up the LRF, range the deer, set it back down, etc..... The problem with my POS Nikon is it gathers no light so I cant see jack through it when most shooting opportunities happen, last half hour of shooting light. I don't need the LRF to see a mile. I need it for 20-100 yards and in low light conditions. I hunt bluff country so angle compensation would be a huge plus. |

Your best bet is a binocular with LRF function.
What is your budget? ILya

My budget is no where near what a good pair of bino's with LRF function costs. Believe me if I was able to afford a pair of $2000 plus bino's I wouldn't be here asking for help.

Zeiss typically goes for brightness in optics. But the leica has a larger exit pupil. I uave owned the leica 1600 and the zeiss, but not at the same time. So i am not certain which one will be bery best. I think they will be close. Compared to your nikons it will be whole new world with either of them.

I'd go with the Leica for this. It is a touch better in low light and lower magnification is more appropriate for bow hunting distances. ILya |
