What causes a Scope Reticle to turn an Amber or Gold occasionally ?
And what can I do to prevent it ? Thanks |

It happens due to light entering the ocular end of the scope, such as when the sun or other light source is behind you. You're seeing the reflection off the wire reticle. Sometimes you will see this even when the sun isn't behind you, if your particular scope doesn't control flare (internal reflections) very well. Even some glass etched reticles will show this, as the etch is filled with metallic dyes. This is perfectly normal, and there's nothing you can do about it other than prevent light from entering the eyepiece.

There exist rubber eyepiece extensions to fill the gap between eye and ocular lens.
