I had a Vari-X II 3-9X40 in the mid 1980's that failed to maintain zero. Sent it back to Leupold, they sent me a new scope.

Had a 2.5X-8X-36 that wouldn't hold zero. Sent it back for repair. Okay so far. Have sent a 3X-9X-40 VariX-II back twice because the magnification ring was hard to rotate. They replaced the O-ring and re-greased both times, but it was right back where it started within 3 weeks of getting it back both times. Still that way today. In very cold weather, even harder to rotate. I have just about given up. Scope has been used very little.

I have owned (3) Vari XII and Vari XIII scopes that would not hold zero. However the newer VX3 scopes have never lost zero for me in the past 12 years or so.

No, I have actually removed my dials, because I no loger needed them. The zero has never shifted. |

I had a friction-adjust Vari-X ii that needed to be sighted in again every year. I had a Mark 4 that was solid as a rock.

Never thats why its on my rifles that kick. Had a Nikon UCC Monarch that adjusted itself. Caused me to wound an Oryx in the Kalahari and it took the better part of a day to track it down. Nikon did send me a new one though.

3 of them....after they sat on my 378 WBY for a while. They all went back and got new erectors. One was a Mark 4.

I just purchased a 378 Weatherby Mag. How do you like it? Looks like a pretty awesome round. Still way under ME of my 458 Lott, but should be a lot of fun. |

I had a Leupy 3-9. If I adjusted the elevation the windage would change and vice versa. I still have an FX-II 4X that has never had problems.

I had a 3-9x40 Leupy like that on a .300 Mag, the old style slip adjustment rings. If you edjusted the elevation, the windage moved also.

I had a 2 1/2 ×20 M8 Compact that held its zero on my first 458 . Had a fixed 3×20 that held its zero on my last 375 . Had a 1-4×20 VX ll that did for quite a while then it went totally gunny bag. . Everyone says, just send it in they will fix it for free. .
So. . I wouldn't care if a scope had any kind of warrentee as long as that scope never broke, stopped working or let me down. . That's the reason I went to SWFA SS scopes. Couldn't find anyone saying it lost its zero. . All the tactile knobs ect are just bonuses!!! |
