Any of you boys use safety razors or straight razors?   I've been experimenting with safety razors for a little while now.  Much closer and smoother shave and actually makes me enjoy shaving.  I ain't not bearded wonder and kinda a baby face but get stubble enough to shave daily or every other day.  I use to hate shaving but now its turned into a ritual.   Just curious if anyone else does that.

I use an Edwin Jagger DE89 safety razor. Feather blades are the best I have found, but proceed with caution. They are thin and very sharp.
I only use oil with no shave cream. I can see where I have shaved, it does not clog the pores and it lubricates the skin far better. I use Old Woodward clove oil and it only takes a dime sized drop for my whole face.

I'm using an old gillette from my grandpa right now.  Looking at the Merkur and EJ's as my next one.  The Gillette has the TTO and I like that but seems most say for the best shave the 3 or 2 piece design is the best.

I use a disposable. I can use it twice a day if I wanted it grown fast. They are toast after one use anyways.

I use a Fusion on my neck every so often. They will last about 4-6 months before I replace the blade unit. Big Grin

Back in the 50's when I first started to shave I always went out of my way to find Wilkinson Sword double edge, they were the best back then.As far as I have ever been shaved nothing compared to a heated towel & a straight edge razor. No one does that any longer,I tried it on my own a few times but was never very good at it[too much hooch ]my hands always shookWink

I have a full beard, have had for 30+ years. I shave every, trim above and on the neck. I use The Gillette Sensor two blade safety razor. Works great on my heavy beard.

Yeah, me too.  I just shave around my beard to keep it neat.  I have an electric, too, because it's quick and I save time and I'm lazy and who cares what you look like anymore once you get to be our age?   [ Besides, you need to wear your reading glasses in order to actually see what's going on anyway!! ]

^^^^^^^^^^ExcellentExcellentBandito       Agreed.   I let a beard grow in the winter, for insulation.(Skip understands).  Along about 15 April, when I get convinced winter's over, I come out from under it.   When I do 'shave', it's generally about twice a week, with the horse clippers. Unless I'm going somewhere, then I use an electric shaver (about three times a year, average).Bandito
