Evening all,
I've just picked up a beautiful Mauser pre-war 22 sporter with an 11mm rail. Looking to put a vintage scope on it, and I'm coming across a few nice scopes with a 14mm dovetail rail on the scope. Is there any way to mount one of these to a rifle with an 11mm grooved receiver? Does anyone make mounts for this purpose? Cheers, Joel |

I would forget about the rail scopes. By the time you found a mounting system you would be an old man.
Brownells has an 11mm to Picatinny base adapter, however, so you could at least come up with that much.... Go to BROWNELLS and look up Rifle Scope Bases and Search for 11MM and it will show you the jigger! Brownells.com |

I just had a brain wave...you could go to ebay and look up German Scopes...there's a bunch of guys over in Europe who are selling old German rail scopes all the time...
Maybe you could send one of them a message and see if they have any 11mm mounts for rail scopes...sometimes they sell scopes with mounts hanging on the scope already. Or, just get that adapter base and look for an old round scope.

Thanks for the idea. I'll see if some of the sellers of these scopes have the mounting gear for an 11mm rail. It's a long shot, but maybe worth it. I've also managed to decipher the Recknagel catalogue, and it seems that they make a few mounts that may do the trick. It'll cost me though. Their stuff is pricey.
I think I'll steer clear of the picatinny adapter though. Looks functional, but I personally reckon the picatinny rail is butt-ugly on a vintage rifle :)
