I am a Nikon fanboy, I have a Monarch 5-20 SF mounted on my Colt A3 and to keep from swapping scopes around when I want to shoot the Ruger I bought a Prostaff 5 3.5-14 BDC SF for the AR and mounted the Monarch on the Ruger. I tried to zero in the Ruger but lost adjustment, I got the windage dead on but the elevation was off about - 5". I thought the Ruger's mount was off so I did some research and found that rim-fires have problems with "out of adjustment" when using high magnification scopes. Is this true and have anyone else run into this?

What Ruger you have? Is it the 10-22
What type of rings are you using, Are you attaching via the dovetail of using a 2 piece or rail.
Problems are usually in the mounting system used.

Some times the Rugers just need the barrel tightened. Instead of being threaded into the receiver, they just slip in and are held in place with a screw. If they aren't good and tight the barrel can sag.
Welcome to the OT. There are several members that know a lot more about the Rugers Rifles than I do.
Folks ain't got a sense of humor no more. They don't laugh they just get sore.

Need to follow the rules. Just hard to determine which set of rules to follow
Now the rules have changed again.

thank you, yes it is a 10/22, base is a 1 piece with weaver steel rings. I went ahead and readjusted/tighten the barrel, I believed I will hit the range in the morning and see what happens.
