Let me clarify something.

This hunt is not going to be done in the cage. The reason he is in there is because he has gored two stags and one elk toward the end of last year.

The ranch manager told me they had to traquilizer him to prevent loosing more animals on the ranch. He is a serious alpha bull and that is why is contained.

Keep looking Ted. There are a lot of outfitters in the South and many have access to private farm land so you don't have to settle for a canned hunt.  Where we hunted was in the Fiordland Park a pretty wild area.  I don't know if you can get a guided hunt in that area or not but I try and check with a friend in NZ who was a game warden in the region if you like.  The pic below is of John with a nice fallow deer he took in Fiordland

You bet, Craig. I'd be interested in any info you've got or can get your hands on, sir!

Thanks!

That is a nice looking fallow!

Been well Dan. Struck out this weekend on hunting. But it was great being in the mountains in cold weather.

I'll post up some of the pictures.

He won't let you near the pen. I tried to put my lens through the panel, and he rushed up trying to maul me.

I don't think he wanted to maul you... He wanted you to turn and run... and be ready for a good goring.

My father went to NZ last March.  He took a Stag, Elk (Wapiti) and Tahr.  Here are the pics.  The picture of the Tahr with the glacier and helicopter is probably the greatest trophy picture I've ever seen.

All those pictures are great!
I especially like the Elk.  I have developed a a yearning to chase bull elk over the last year. Just listening to Andrew talk about it, that is something I want. Five year goal!

I would love to hunt Tahr and Elk in NZ someday. They also have some good Chamois hunting I understand.

None of the species there are "native."  They've all been introduced.
