Does anyone own a new HD5 with a plex reticle that they could post a thru the scope pic of ? I'm interested in a 2-10 but I'm sure the 3-15 is the same, reticle wise.

Thanks,

Roy

Roy the HD5 reticles are essentially the same between the 2-10x42 and the 3-15x42.  I have 2 of the HD5 3-15x42's but I don't have a picture.  Look in the Zeiss HD5 technical specs.

BTW, the varmit reticle for the HD5 is a finer crosshair than the other reticles.

Roy, I don't have pics but here's a link direct to Zeiss.

How is it thickness wise, compared to this reticle ( Leica Plex)

Roy

Follow this link, at the bottom of the page is a pdf link with the reticle info for your Leica

http://us.leica-camera.com/sport_optics/rifle_scopes_new/ER_rifle_scopes/

Here is the Zeiss reticle info for the 2-10 scope I provided earlier. The z-plex info is listed first.

http://sportsoptics.zeiss.com/content/dam/SportsOptics/usa/pdf/Subtensions_Calculation_2-10x42_2013-01-16.pdf

Comparing the two you should be able to get a ball park idea.

I've been extremely happy with my Leica (with 4a reticle).

Not sure how to compare the two charts between Leica and Zeiss. Looks like Zeiss is giving sub values @ 2 @ 6 @ 10 for reticle thickness but I'm not sure what Leica is saying with min and max

Sorry, I didn't have time to look at the charts. I believe min/max is minimum/maximum power of the scope, a 2.5-10 would be 2.5/10.

At 10X the HD5 center reticle covers 1/4 inch.  From reading the Leica data sheets the reticle of their ER scope reticle subtension also is 1/4 inch at 100 yards.

The reticle is the same apparent size to you at all scope power settings.  The subtension of the reticle being SFP is the same apparent size at all power settings
