This latest one looks bad. We went from mid-40s Thursday, to super windy conditions yesterday and snow that started in the evening. Only got about 4 inches but now it's 5 above and headed negative tonight. Still, forecast says we'll be back in the 30s Monday. Montana east of the Divide is just on the cusp of this thing.

My brother in central Wisconsin is looking at a high Monday of -17. And in-laws in Missouri of only 2 above. Even the Texas ones will be freezing their butts off, relatively speaking. So to any of you in those areas, particularly the upper Midwest, stay safe! Apparently, this is a relatively rare occurrence of the Polar Vortex dropping south (last in '96).

Here in NC they are talking a low Monday night of 8 degrees with a wind chill factor of minus 5. That's cold for Southern NC.

Hunker down out there, Bro.

Crap! That's cold for here, but at least people expect it and are usually ready to deal with it.

We were 50s all afternoon . Now it has dropped to 23F headed down to 5F with snow about 30 miles NW headed this way. It is still dry so only about 2-4" here. Missouri will get much more snow. headed at Lynn after that. Big Grin

Here is what they are calling for:

Sounds like this storm may be dumping snow neck deep to a tall Giraffe by the time it hits you in NY. All the snow ends just 45 miles south of here at I 40.

It was 17 above here this morning :-) . Wood stove is just barely putting along. . That's fine we've already had several bouts of 40 below and colder here at the cabin this winter. . You guys should do some cold weather long range shooting just so you'll know how your Tac / hunting rifles and scopes fly and function in the cold. . Especially your shtf rifles.
You are being watched.

Put everything outside and let it get nice and cold. It takes an hour or 2 . Gotta set your chronograph up and hurry up and shoot.

We were at 5 today.  Thats like summer though.  Typically in Jan and Feb many mornings it is -15 to -25 on my way to work.

Weird weather for sure here too.  Snowblowed the driveway this morning and had 1/2" ice crust on top, 4" of snow underneath and next to the ground it was slush, a real mess.  No slush tonight, heading to -13F with wind chill of -40.  May have to put a jacket on...........
