I've gone for best glass I can afford first ,meostar,so that ruled out illuminated. I know that the #4 would be the best for low light option but there is a Zplex $100 cheaper.
The scopes I'm looking at are both Meostar 3-10x 50mm
I'm wondering how the two rectiles  compare?
Has anyone used the Zplex in low light?
Is a thicker or thinner plex?
Could you use the Zplex in the moonlight?

regards
Oyster

lowlight, get the #4
Either would work fine on deer at 30 minutes past sunset

The Meopro and Meostar run the same glass according to my source at Meopta btw

Either will work.
Freedom is something you take.
Respect is something you earn.
Equality is something you whine about not being given.

The Z-Plex II is a fine crosshair and is the reticle avaialble (along with #4) in the MeoStar R1 3-10x50.
For low-light shooting the #4 is generally a better choice.
Yes I work for Meopta, but I am not here to sell Meopta. Just answering questions and providing reasonable insight.

ccoker,
when you say "they run the same glass in the meopro and meostar" do you mean they have the same lens coatings as well. If so, there wouldn't be any difference between them if everything else was equal.
Most seem to pick the meostar as the better scope over the meopro. Maybe they have better internal erecters and mechanisms holding the lens in place.
Maybe a pro might be the go.

I was told by John Lara from Metopta that they used the same glass and coatings.
I have a/bed the Meopro 4-12x50 and Meostar 3-12x56
The latter gave another few minutes of usability well past sunset (not taking into consideration the illuminated reticle)

I couldn't distinguish between the two for anything else personally.

Ccoker,
That all sounds pretty good, I was looking at the 3.5-10x50 meostar #4 but am now thinking meopro 3.5-10x44mm 4C.
Is the illuminated reticle worth the extra dollars?
Reading some peoples thoughts on the #4 reticle in the meostar , it seems they think the 4 is as good as having an illuminated reticle.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

yea their #4 is a great one. they side bars come pretty close together and it draws your eyes to the middle. i much prefer it than all these thin duplexes
