I was interested in picking up a Hi-Lux Leatherwood CMR model scope for either my AK or 300BLK upper. For those that have experience with the newer/upgraded model, the CMR4, do you feel that the upgrades (better glass, mil adjustments, redesigned reticle, capped turrets, etc.) are worth the extra $200?

Yes, the upgrades do make a difference. The turrets are better and the glass is better. The reticle is also a little different and I like the new one a little more. The illumination seems a little better too.
That having been said, both are very respectable products. I tested a couple of original CMRs and I am just about wrapped up with the new CMR4 with AK reticle and I am quite impressed. Whether the difference is worth it to you is kinda personal. I can't decide whether that is worth the money. It would be worth the money for me. ILya

Thanks! I was leaning towards the CMR4, more so just because of the better glass but hadn't heard from anyone who actually owned a CMR4 as to how much of an improvement the quality of the glass was compared to the original CMR.

I have the original 14CMR and have no intention of upgrading… no need.

If I had the original, I would not necessarily go through the exercise of selling it and getting the new one. If I were looking for one, I would go for the CMR4. ILya

I hope it has been helpful. If you get the CMR4, I am convinced you will be happy with it. The 14CMR is one of the most versatile scopes in my arsenal…

Diesel,
Wish I could help you out with your particular model. I have used the Hi-Lux brand 'Scout' scope extensively and absolutely love them. I put them on all my milsurp rifles. They are tough, hold zero and a fantastic value in my opinion.
