I was saddened to hear author Tom Clancy passed away yesterday at age 66.
I always enjoyed his technically detailed novels. |

A few weren't so great, but many were. He definitely redefined the standards for realism in action/thriller writing. Without Remorse and Red October are my favorites.

I liked the Jack Ryan novels. The guy was a hell of a story teller.
RIP Mr Clancy.

I loved all his novels he wrote himself (with Jack Ryan and John Clark as the main characters) but didn't care for his colaberations with other authors.
I really liked how he could write a story about a few characters not related that by the end of the book all were connected in some kind of show down. To me his details and accuracy seemed very believable. "The Sum of All Fears" was an example of how he could combine two stories in one, how to make a dirty bomb in the first half of the story and the second half was none stop excitement involving deployment of the bomb. Easily my favorite author! I truly love the Jack Ryan novels, but also not a fan of his co-authored books! My favorite has to be "The Bear and The Dragon", followed closely by "Without Remorse". "Debt of Honor" will also make you think... He will be missed.

That makes two great authors that have passed this year (Mr. Clancey and Mr Flynn), Maybe they know something we don't, all i know is that if Brad Thor goes we are all in trouble....

Brad Thor wears the mantle. David Hagberg is good, too. Rainbow Six is quite a tale. I just got up and found my copy in the other room and ... later. |

What????? I had no idea Vince Flynn passed as well, RIP. He had a completely different writing style but I really like his work as well, I'm a huge Mitch Rapp fan (main character in most of his novels). |
