hello everyone!
I'm new to rifles (I've always used shotguns or crossbows for hunting) but this year i'm looking to buy a rifle. i'm pretty sure i'm going to buy the Ruger american rifle chambered in 30-06... it seems like a good gun. but when it comes to a scope i'm hopelessly lost. I'm thinking about the Redfield Battlezone 3-9x42mm.... is it possible to mount this scope on the Ruger american?? is this a good scope? my price range is max $200... the longest shot i would have to make is 200 yards... are there any scopes that are more quality at a lower price? thanks for any advice! :) |

Why would you not be able to mount that scope on the Ruger?
Regardless, I've looked at a Redfield Battlezone... not bad for a 3-9. Can't speak to reliability/durability, but at first glance it it nice. Hard to beat for under $200.00, in my observation. Redfield seems to be making a comeback. Regardless, it is a good beginner.

First choice Tikka T3 second choice Savage both shoot very well right out of the box. Ruger can be a coin toss some shoot good groups some not so much.
Scopes if you can stay with one of these you will be happy you did

Staying under $200 I'd look at the Vortex Diamondback 3x9x40, Redfield Revolution 3x9x40, Bushnell Legend Ultra HD 3x9x40 and Weaver Classic V 3x9x38. But for about $25-30 more you could get a Leupold VX-1 3x9x40. All are available for purchase from our sponsoring website.

i like savage bolt guns myself . i have found even the cheapest of them are very accurate for the price when you find the right combination of ammo and scope.
a savage and a diamondback looks like a good budget combo to me. i ain't a ruger fan , --the only rugers i like are that semi .22 pistol that started the co, their revolvers, and their 1911s (that they don't even make). i had several mini-14. 30,p85s, p89s, 90, all of which had various problems. then ruger jumped into bed with bill clinton--that did it! i swore i would never buy another one. yea a long story--LOL! |
