got the vortex diamondback 2-7x 35mm scope for my 20" LW ar-15 project.
my first impressions of the scope is very positive. it is very bright and clear. the mag ring was a little stiff at first but after a few cycles it is now very smooth and constant. i mounted it to my 20" flat top via the optisan 30mm mount with GG&G 25mm inserts. yea i used a burris mount on the optisan! the scope is fairly small and fit in the mount with little room to spare. it does have nearly perfect eye relief with the short a1 style stock set the cav-arms has. on the lowest setting there is a very wide field of view --the widest i have ever seen in a 2x-- i sort of suspect that 2x might be a bit lower than 2x --- low enough i can do the 'both eyes open drill"-- your mileage may vary though. there is a little of the fish eye effect on 2x where the edge gets a little out of focus -- it is very minor and you have to be looking hard to see it. the adjustments click solidly by feel and sound. the scope seems of high quality considering its modest price. from 3x-7x the scope is crystal clear and the 7x full magnification is clear as a bell-- and it seems strong for a 7x--maybe thats just me. the scope and mount set up don't add much weight or bulk to my light weight rifle . with my 75gr hand-loads ??? now i ain't mounted or zeroed it in yet--BUT-- this set up looks to be a 'hog killer" and a 'pest stopper" to me--LOL yea i am a happy camper! |

I put one of these scopes on a T3 lite 243 (truck gun) and it has been great. I am pretty hard on my stuff, I don't recklessly abuse it but I do USE it!
It has bounced around in the truck, a Polaris Ranger and a 4 wheeler and it has keep its zero. So far a very good investment. Randy
