Never used gunbroker but when buying long distance you send the guy the money and the name and address and copy of FFL of the gun dealer that the gun needs to be sent to---where you will pick it up and fill out the necessary forms. Nowadays you can send the FFL info in an e-mail----long ago you sent the seller a paper xerox copy.....

Yes. Or anyone else who legally sells guns.
Post Script: If you were using, let's say, Academy Sports, you'd go tell them [ Academy ] what you were planning and they would send the FFL e-mail to the seller and you would send the money, etc. |

You do want to check FFL's fees for transaction. It can vary from 10$ to 50$ and I find 25$ to be real reasonable. Plus a lot of times you can find free shipping and no sale taxes with the dealer you are purchasing the gun from. Watch out for the locals that want to charge you sales tax on the gun you already bought.

I bought several handguns on gunbroker.com. Each of these transactions was handled beautifully. This allowed me to get some "manufacturer's special order" guns that were not readily available in our local market. (I should note that I was buying only new guns.)
I used my local gun store as the FFL to receive these orders. I cleared the transactions (and their fees) with them verbally in advance. I also copied them on my correspondence with the sellers, so they knew exactly what firearms to expect, when, and from where. You should check out Gunbroker.com's information on safeguarding your purchases, and their guarantees. (E-bay also has some suggestions on these matters.) Have fun shopping!

I've bought several rifles off Gunbroker. My FFL just gives me a photocopy of his license, which I send (along with payment of course) to seller. He ships the gun to the FFL. He calls me and I pay the transfer fee and it's a done deal. No issues to date.

You may want to look to see what ammo is most available in your area before selecting. 30-06 has been very available here while .308 has been in short supply because some military rifles use it. Watch what the price is on they type of ammo also as a guy can buy an AK or SKS in 7.62x39 and get ammo for $6. a box where some ammo like 300 WSM can be $50 a box but much better suited to some uses. What is the intended use we may be able to help make a suggestion. I've been pretty satisfied with Tikka and Savage rifles and if I bought something else it would probably be one of those two brands.

I buy at least 5 guns off Gunbroker/ year, and I've never had a single problem with any Gunbroker transaction. It's simple. Set up an account, search for what you're looking for, and the bidding process works just like ebay. Once you win a bid or "buy now," you contact the seller or the seller contacts you, using the supplied contact info that you can view once you become the winning bidder. You then pay the seller and let them know which FFL dealer you want your gun shipped to. They contact your FFL dealer and get a copy of their license faxed to them for verification, then ship your gun to them. Then, you go to your dealer, fill out the form 4473, pay the transfer fee and take your new gun home.
Gunbroker is so useful because you can find many hard to find guns there, without leaving the comfort of your home, and you can see pics of the actual gun you're buying. The reputable dealers will always list all known flaws on used guns, usually even showing those flaws in the pics, because they depend on Gunbroker and know if they misrepresent their items, they will get bad feedback or get kicked off GB.
