I would like some recommendations for these rifles.
The Browning will be used for short/medium range hunting up to 200 yds. Planning to use it for a pig rifle. The Tikka I want to use for longer ranges. I want illuminated reticles. Thanks

I have a Tikka T3 lite in 270 and love it! Mine wears a 3-10 swaro and it is an exceptional scope, among my favorite hunting scopes, but not illuminated reticle.
Whatever you put on it, I recommend going with something fairly light and small, else it really throws off the balance of the gun. If you want illuminated, look at the Trijicon Accupoint scopes, they are a great value and quite good scopes. The same goes for the BAR. I have now or have owned/used the 3-9, 2.5-10, and 5-20 Accupoints, they are well made and their illumination is fool-proof, no batteries to die at the worst possible time. Having hunted a pig or 2, I recommend less magnification and more field of view. Don't overscope the pig gun! Let me know what "longer range" is and what your budget is for each scope. Also, for the Tikka, get Tally lightweight rings, they are great. Take the stock Tikka rings and throw them in the trash, they are a headache and have failed me on a few occasions.

Thanks for the input. As far as range goes, out to 300-400yds. with the tikka. I have a Swarovski 1.7-10x42 and a Leupold VX-6 3-18x44 that I'm putting on other rifles. When comparing the Swaro to the Leupold, I can tell the difference between the two as far as eyebox and clarity at the edges of the scopes. The Swaro is better by a small margin. Both are very clear, obviously.
Thinking of something in the 1-4 or 1-6 range for the Browning BAR, something with good low light capability. The Tikka probably 3-9 or thereabouts, but am certainly open to suggestions, as I do want to keep it lightweight, too. And as I stated earlier, like illumination. Budget is pretty much open.

http://swfa.com/Trijicon-AccuPoint-Rifle-Scopes-C207.aspx When you want illumination Trijicon and Aimpoint stand out as the best illumination systems. Out to 200 yds I like the 1-4x past that I want more magnification.

So you like the post better than the crosshairs for say, pig blasting? How's Trijicon glass comparatively speaking?

For the money, Trijicon glass is quite good. For night time hunting, it is among the very best in this price range. Add to that their very good illumination, and for a night hunter, you have to double the budget to get appreciably better glass.
As for reticle, it depends. For pig hunting, I like the mil dot reticle, but on the 5-20 it is VERY thick. I have the 3-9 with a red triangle post reticle and it does what I want, but I prefer the very small aiming point on the mil dot more. The post reticle is fast on target, great for moving game. In a 3-9, that's the reticle to get.

I have the Trijicon accupoint and Leupold VXR and optically they are close to the same and use both to hunt pigs at night under a full moon with no other light source.

Thanks. I'm looking at the VX-R as well as the VX6 line, in addition to the Trijicons.
