was wondering if it was normal to have speeds up to 150 feet differant than what hornady states in their book.......

elevation...2900ft                  average speed   2812 7mm 160gr
humidity 50%                                    imr 4831 60gr
temp 60f                                  hornady 2950-3000 same load

Yes entirely possible

Manuals differ in velocity for the 160 gr bullets:

Nosler - 61 gr IMR4831 @ 2933 fps, so 60 gr would be about 2900 fps
Sierra - 59.9 gr IMR4831 @ 2900 fps
Speer - 61 gr IMR4831 @ 2915 fps
Swift - 61.5 gr IMR4831 @ 2897 fps

So manuals differ but so do individual rifles

Also your seating depth will influence velocities. The deeper you seat and the further from the lands your bullet is, the lower your velocity will be. So if you have a deep throat or you are seating deep in the case, then your velocity will be lower
Guns only have 2 enemies, rust and politicians

Some barrels are faster than others. Especially if you get a custom barrel. I've gotten an extra 75 fps going to a custom over a factory barrel of the same length. Occasionally, you get a factory barrel or rifle model (such as the Rem 5R) that shoots better than typical.
Reaction time is a factor...

i'm useing a remington sendero which has a 26" barrel, i was under the impression that the longer the barrel the faster the bullet..but i couldn't figure out why so slow, anyways this round groups extremely well so speed is not really the issue here.....
