What rifle are you trying to mount? The hole spacing varies from gun to gun, and almost everyone makes a .30-06.

Well I bought the mounts and rings and have gotten them. NOW my question is...... is it normal for it to be so diffacult to turn the ring 90 degree on the mount. I just tried to do it with my fingers and there is no way. I guess I'm suppose to use a wooden dow to achieve this. Please let me know what the heck is going on...

Yes they are designed that way. When the rings are twisted in they actually cut into the base mating itself to the base to insures a good snug fit. The dow rod is a good way to twist them in. Just don't try and use your scope. Leupold actually makes a ring wrench specifically for this task F.Y.I.

Well, if I mount the base to the rifle, and them attach the ring to it,,,, I could twist them on that way currect?

Yes before you do anything make sure the base is attached to the rifle. I assumed that is what you were doing originally.
